Lightbulb Moment!

Something finally "clicked" today in understanding metering and exposure with my Nikon D40! I kept seeing the word "metering" applied to using a camera, and not understanding exactly what you DO to meter, especially in Manual. Katrina at Designer Digitals just explained this to me in a post. Now I understand how it involves adjusting the aperture, shutter speed and ISO settings for the right exposure by using the camera little + and - ruler thingy (exposure level indicator) in the viewfinder. You get the indicator to zero through your settings of the aperture and shutter speed (and ISO), and this is metering! This tutorial also helped immensely. Amazing how the little building blocks of a concept can gradually come together!

Love, One Shovel at a Time

It's the week before Christmas, and Doug and I are eagerly awaiting Dianna and Brian home from their respective schools for Christmas. We won't see Scott until the first week in January. Doug has been out shoveling the drive and the steps, busily hanging Christmas lights, and reminiscing about times when our children were little. Putting up our ornaments particularly triggers these trips down the backroads of Memory Lane. In some ways, our Christmas trees are like one big scrapbook page, filled with memorabilia and symbols of milestones and connections in our lives.

My Loyal Photo Subjects

JBolton Delight in Photo vintage paper, simple glossary, stitches, words, photo frames & tag
Sauson designs, DSLR challenge sticker

This is a Lay Out for Jessica Sprague's PhotoShop Friday Challenge (06) 9, using blending modes. I used JBolton Delight in Photo vintage paper, simple glossary, stitches, words, photo frames & tag
Sauson designs, DSLR challenge sticker, which is a digital kit I received for completing the DSLR photoclass for newbies through scrapbookgraphics.com. I think I'll use this blog to track some of my new layouts as I continue to play with my new photography, digiscrapping, and blogging hobbies!
