Typical sights in the teeming metropolis of Grand Forks, a snowy shot of grain elevators and trains.

This second shot was at 48 mm, ss: 1/50 and also f/13.
I had first headed to the river today to get a shot of 8 dogsled teams going through Grand Forks. But the dogs were delayed by about 1 1/2 hours, and I just too much of a wimp for the weather :(.
VERY cool shots! I like the way the steam mixes with the clouds. I'm going to have to show these to Yums in the morning. That boy is OBSESSED with trains!!

I love these shots! These remind me of the town my grandma lived in when I was growing up. My grandpa was a railroad engineer for Union Pacific.
ReplyDeleteHad to show these to DH because he loves trains (although he and the boy are bonding watching Braveheart so I interrupted). Very cool shots, and I think the action works perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLove the clouds of smoke!!
ReplyDeleteCool! I really like the mood created by these.

ReplyDeleteReally cool shots of the train. It looks so cold. I love trains. How cool to see a real dog sled goin by. I am still waiting to see the boiling water freeze thing I am so stuck on that.
ReplyDeleteReally cool shotsa. They look like they could have been taken yesterday or in 1892
ReplyDeleteCool shots, you find the neatest things to photograph!
ReplyDeleteI see you recommend that LOST book, is it helpful at figuring things out? We're re-watching Thursday's episode for the third time to get more from it! How dorky are we??? Our previous seasons of LOST are the DVD's we watch over and over.
I like that first one a lot.
ReplyDeleteWOW these are very cool shots. You can really "feel" the cold.
