Humor me. I wanted to try and get reflections of the flowers in water drops, and is that ever a challenge! I used my 105mm macro lens, and set this up in my kitchen sink! I used a spray water bottle, my rather shaky tripod, and told me husband he had to walk gently, but mostly DON'T COME IN THE KITCHEN! (because I didn't want the drops to fall before I got the shot!"
I hope you can get a closer look at this top one by clicking on it, but in some of the drops, you can see other flowers.
I enlarged this bottom one further, and you can see some of the flowers in the two drops on the upper right edge of the flower, and one in the bottom right drip.
If anyone has ideas about how to do this, let me know!

ReplyDeleteI don't have any "good" advice for getting reflections, because I am still convinced mine was a fluke, lol! I did notice that during the shots I did get reflections the sun had peeked out... I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
Angela--these are wonderful! Good work--getting reflections is tricky. Here's what I do--first I find a large enough drop that I can actually see a spot of color in it. The reflection is ALL about the angle it is viewed at, so you have to look through your viewfinder and move your camera until you see what you want in the drop. I focus on the reflection itself, which will throw the other stuff out of focus a tad, but I want a nice clear reflection. I also take a few shots in a row, because even a breath can move the camera enough to throw off the focus. However, it looks like you have the basics down! I've never used a spray bottle, I just use raindrops, but it looks like that worked well. I'll be looking for more drippy shots!!
