Disney Magic Cruise: Western Carribean

On Saturday morning, first I had to haunt Doug for a while from another dimension just beyond the mirror before we left Saratoga Springs resort and headed to the Port Canaveral terminal.

Note the festive beach garb worn by our fellow cruisers, as we climbed aboard the Disney Cruise Express:

The tropical sun was relentless as we embarked on our Magical journey. Good thing we packed all that sunscreen!

Disney has a dinner rotation system between 3 dining halls. The dining room servers rotate with you. Jonathon is from the Phillipines and has a little 3 year old and 5 year old son that he'll get to see again in 5 weeks and two days. Louis is from India and was quite talented in his ability to harass and entertain us. I learned to listen closely to him as he recited the menu for the evening, because he often "went rogue" and slipped a few outrageous remarks (with a perfectly straight face) in amongst the 'broiled this' and 'sauted that,' never breaking character.

We had hoped to go snorkeling during this trip, but our North Dakota hardiness does not extend to plunging ourselves into icy waters. We did the only logical thing under the circumstances: we ate everything in sight, with one exception. . . .

. . . . the Disney personnel did not take kindly to our trying to devour Mickey, even if we thought he'd make a mighty fine bedtime snack.

We took a 7 day Disney Magic cruise with the kids several years back (Eastern Carribean I think?) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I too liked that your servers rotated with you to each of the different restaurants. I get severe motion sickness and generally did well - but spent one day sleeping it off on a cool deck bench. From the looks of the weather on your trip - no so sure I could have gotten away with that.

Oh man! Sorry about the chilly weather. Hopefully it was warmer than home. ;)

Even Mickey seems dressed for the weather! Too bad it was chilly. That's just so wrong.

Looks like you enjoyed yourself. To bad about not being able to snorkle that would have been awesome.

Regardless of the weather it looks as though you are having a nice time. Your photos are great. You make me want to be there. Our cold spell finally left here. It is in the 60's and 70's again. Yeah!

Too bad the weather wasn't cooperating (I hope it changed during your trip) - love your journaling (as always) and love Mickey!

Hi there!

Just a quick note from your Disney Magic wine tasting partners, Colin and Rachel from Ontario Canada. Nice pictures! You can check out some of mine from the trip on flickr, just look for me, colinchapman1968.
I also took a quick shot of the Pooh and Devil christmas decorations. It caught my eye as being odd but I suppose not on that streret!

We went Tulum many years ago while staying in the Mayan Riveria, neat spot!!

We still have no snow here to speak of, sad really as our little guy got a sled for Christmas and has only been in it briefly wile we were on the cruise. I haven't had the pleasure of pulling him in it yet and it is Feb 4 already!

The weather could (should!) have been better but we had a great trip!

Nice to have met both of you!!

We loved the cruise despite then weather. Yhe food was amazing, still trying to lose the extra weight!

It looks like you two had a good trip as well. We had been to Tulum years ago, neat spot.

It was nice to meet both of you,
