In Fargo, ND, there's a museum with preserved building from the late 19th century. Not surprisingly, it's closed in the winter. But I wanted some photos anyway, so I shot these through a locked fence, while a police officer sat in his cozy warm car keeping an eye on me (and me on him!) I'll go back to the museum again in the summer, because there's much more to see, but this is one photo of a street, and then I cropped it in to one of the stores. This was shot in manual mode, RAW, with my 18-135 mm lens, at 52mm, f/13, ss: 1/250; ISO: 200.
I slightly adjusted the exposure, defogged, and framed.
Thank you everyone, for all the nice comments on my photos. I'm enjoying this POTD much more than I ever thought possible, and it's definitely taking the edge off winter for me. Its prompting me to look around and see more of what is all around, and I just love hearing about the variety of lives and circumstances of everyone who particpates and comments! I count you all as part of my circle of friends in this crazy adventure called "life"!

I have to say I LOVE doing POTD, too. Like you said, it's so much fun to see and learn about everyone's varied experiences from all around the U.S... and even some outside the U.S. I love these shots. So quaint!
I am so with you on POTD. I love it and it inspires me and encourages me to try harder. Looks like a fun place to visit. Looking forward to seeing what these look like in the summer.
I hear ya about looking at things differently since starting the POTD. I totally am!
We all agree about POTD helping us seeing winter in a different way!! :) And we get to see places we might never get to see otherwise!!
Great shots! I love the 1st one! I agree, POTD and all of you peas ROCK!
I like the way the church draws your eye right in. I am right there with you I like this POTD thing, it helps me to see others view and encourages me in my photography
It looks so cold and lonely up there! I guess there are no people on the streets because it's too cold. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts. It IS a lot of fun to get glimpses into so many people's lives :) I enjoy it too!
Wow - if they are this good taken from behind a fence - you're going to get some shots when you can get in! I love the church shot - the color is perfect.

Angela, I really like this place! The snow, the overcast sky, the deserted streets all add to the flavor of the buildings. I bet there are a lot of cool details lurking around in there.
I argree about POTD, too. I love it!
Cool place!
I agree about the Winter--and POTD helping! I am sooo ready for Spring!!!!
like that 2nd pic!
beautiful! even though it looks totally BRRRRR chilly!
Angela I have never had an urge to visit ND but seeing your photos has me convinced I need to swing by sometime time and check you all out. In the summer though because I don't want any part of your 'walk outside and freeze to death' weather thank you very much. :D
again, another great post! would love to spend the day with you and our cameras!
How cool! I want to go see that too.. Fun!
I have the same feelings about POTD. And I think if you have a police officer watching you, that makes you almost a pro. You might have to get arrested to be a pro. I love stories in photo mags that talk about photographers trespassing to get a shot.
Your pictures have also helped me see the world around me through a different "lens"! My parents also follow your blog and love seeing the GF photos! These are really terrific - and very funny about the police watching you! I am enjoying PSE6 - so far not a lot of differences. I'll see what Sunday brings for me, but would you want to get together?
I'm impressed with how you're always "out and about" collecting these amazing pictures. What fun!
Haven't been around in ages and am obviously missing out!!! Your photography skills are really amazing ... thanks for sharing :)
Great shots of a neat town.. I would love to see it in person..
POTD is helping me so much as well
