Everyone should have some self-portraits now and then, don't you think?
Actually, I just got some snorkeling gear and wanted to see what it felt like before my trip to Mexico in a few weeks! It's not that easy taking a photo of yourself in the mirror, with a snorkel mask on, and having to manually focus!
Also as part of my preparation for this trip, I desperately felt that I needed to modify my ND Pale, or die in the first 10 minutes in the sun in Mexico. I've never in my life gone "tanning."
But I have ISSUES with this! See all these warnings??? I tell you, there's absolutely no item, not one caution, about necks. Nada about the necks. 
I never gave necks, specifically MY neck, a moment's thought, until the evil Nora Ephron came out with the "I feel bad about my neck" book. And then I noticed that on this side of 50, apparently we women can have neck issues. Wrinkles and things. Well. . . . after awhile I decided that there might be bigger issues in life, and this got demoted to "get a life!" on my worry list.Until tanning. WHY didn't anyone warn me that you could get stripes on your neck if you have. . . . ummmmm. . . . folds (I guess) on your neck???? Someone could have said, "Psstttt, watch out for horizontal stripes." But NOOOOOOOO. . . . LET me find out for myself!
After a couple of weeks of tanning, I looked in the mirror, and noticed. . . stripes! Blatant, high contrast, how-do-you-photoshop-THAT-out-in-real-life stripes. Luckily, since I would need to leave the house in the morning, and didn't want people squinting oddly at my neck, I had a bottle of self-tanning stuff that my daughter left at home, and used this to dab on the fat old stripes with some cotton balls.
So, take this as ANOTHER public service announcement from me, dear friends!

LOL! LOVE the self portraits! And I wish I had known you were going tanning... my mom had the same thing happen to her the first time she went. Now she tilts her head back when she tans to smooth out her "lines". :)

And I get neck stripes too! (I'm bad about wearing sunscreen in the summer.) Not only that, but I always have this giant vertical stripe between my eyebrows where my squinting wrinkle is.
OMG LOL. How fun a trip to Mexico sounds right about now. Sorry I would be of no help on tanning bed advice.
Angela, I'm almost peeing my pants. First the snorkel shots--soo attractive, so brave!! And the Nora Ephron reference; I hooted at that book, but NEVER thought of horizontal stripes as a result of tanning. I suppose her solution of a strategically draped scarf is out of the question...LOL!!

First...these photos are a riot! And the journaling is so FUNNY. Oh my word...I had no idea. I don't tan anymore since my mom had a scare with cancer. She made me promise not to do it, and after her persistent begging I decided that this was the one thing I would do to oblige her. Happy to me Maine white as a ghost. :)
Got a good giggle at your expense this morning! Thank you! These are some great shots and the story to go along with it is priceless. I have never been, nor do I ever plan on going, to a tanning booth (My issues are that it looks WAY too much like a coffin for my comfort). I never in a million years would have thought about tanning lines in my neck.
