Uhhhhh, no! I've never been able to overcome the pathetic excuse of geography classes my small parochial school provided in the 50s. In Texas, you cross a very long bridge to get to Galveston. But what a wonderful place! Our time was way too short there! Here are more of the Galveston tree sculptures:

And if you look closely in the background of the Tin Woodman, you might notice Doug doing a special little dance. To ward off more rains, maybe????

But here, you can probably guess why Doug was doing that little jig.

Poor Doug.

I, too, am a bit geographically challenged. I didn't know that Galveston was an island either! Then again, how often does Galveston come up in conversations? Not often, at least not here in Chicago . . .
Well I would laugh at you...but I told someone two weeks ago Deleware wasn't a state. Yes, yes I did. Someone I was training at work none the less..great way to lose trust. In my defense it was really early...actually there is no defense. So no judgement here ;)
These are so neat! I seriously love that tin man.
Wow... those are amazing. I can't even imagine the time and work required to make them. I want the tin man(and Toto) in 'my' yard lol. Now on to the Galveston thing... I vaguely think I might have known that. But I just googled Toto to see how to spell it properly, so I'm not even going to giggle at you!
I only know this because my niece lived there. We vistied a couple years ago but she didn't introduce us to these lovely sculptures. The poor tin man can't catch a break, first he needs oiled and now he needs polished. He probably has a real idenity problem!
did no one explain to Doug that Toto is a wooden dog - its okay. I didn't know Galveston was an Island either. These sculptures are magnificent.
I am so bad at geography - I can relate! The sculptures are beautiful - wish I could visit Galveston one day!! And let me know how the baked donuts turn out (sorry I enabled you!! LOL)
Well, I didn't know it was an island either. Love seeing more of the tree sculptures.
Those sculptures are GORGEOUS. I love the tin man!
