Day 35--Dianna's feet!

It's a mom thing, but I love my daughter's feet! Rather than put up several photos at various aperture settings, I thought I'd just make sure that I was very aware of different aperture possibilities this week, and then use the one I liked best. This photo was taken using my 35mm 2.0 lens, which I feel that I don't really understand it's capabilities well. I do like that it seems to be very useful in low light situations. This was shot in manual mode, f/3.5; exp 1/4; using a tripod, ISO 400; wb incandescent light. I removed the color cast because it looked too blue. I also ran an urban acid action on it, added a low opacity vignette and a frame.

With this lens, I have to focus manually, and am not sure if that means that if the process is the same as using autofocus. That is, if I focus on, say, my daughter's feet, can I then recompose and take the picture, with her feet having the sharpest focus?

Again, thank you to everyone who commented yesterday on my photos! Your comments made me feel much better about it!

I always enjoy visiting your blog; I'm glad you're feeling less discouraged. When I use manual focus, I compose first and then adjust my focus where I want it.

Great shot! I love my kids' feet too... (well, except for when the boys come in after sweating outside and their feet stink, lol!)

I like this shot, it's cute how her feet are crossed. I have the 100mm lens and take a lot of flower photos where I manually focus on one area, recompose and then press the shutter. My lens is autofocus though, so not sure if it would work the same.

I like the crispness of her jeans and the way her toes are wrapped around her other foot- hint of childhood still there.
I think you are getting the hang of the lens. Can't comment on MF lens, but you should always be able to recompose. Keep in mind though- with a wide apperture, if you recompose you are likely to throw off your point of focus- you'll have to work hard to avoid that.
