36 Fiesta Ware

This one was shot in manual mode, using my 18-135 mm lens at f/8; exp 1/3; wb shade; ISO 800.

This one was shot with a 35 mm 2.0 lens at f/2. The wb was Tungsten; exp 1/60; ISO 400; manual mode.

As you can see, the two shots turned out dramatically different from one another. How much do you think the differences are from the white balance, and how much from the lens used? I want to get to the point where I know what to expect from the settings I use rather than using a "shot-gun" method. Thanks!

I totally love fiesta where. I think what made the whole difference was the iso and white balance but I am not an expert...maybe someone else can chime in on that. I really love the pepper dishes...beautiful.

I think it's a little bit of both really. I like that first one best, so warm feeling.

I don't know enough about it (enough that I shouldn't even comment), but I would think it's more the white balance and ss than the lens. I love the warmth of the first with the colors of the dishes.

love fiesta ware! I really like the warmth of the first one... my thoughts would be that the difference in color is primarily from the change in wb, although I know that the lens makes a bit of a difference too.

wb and iso would be my guess! Good job!

great colors. Keep practicing and it will become second nature to you. I got to that point onmce and hope to get back there one day. I have forgotten a lot of stuff since I fell out of practice when life got in the way.

I'm not at all an expert on why, but I like the Tungsten setting one better. Great photos and great job comparing differences in lens, settings, etc.!!!

I think that what made the biggest difference was the white balance. Especially considering you had it set on shade on the first one so it was trying to warm up a photo that is already fairly warm because of inside light. The second shot looks like it is closer to the actual colors of the dishes so I am guessing that you did have some sort of light on and the tungsten WB setting made all the difference there.
