Day 74 POTD Ocean Animals?

I might be on theme with the animals inside the shell! (I'd have to ask a kid; they know everything!) I'm using my new macro lens 105mm 2.8 for these photos, and am hoping to get the focus and clarity much better. I used a tripod, used manual focus, turned off auto vibration, and used the timer. I know there're even things that have to do with how the shutter opens and closes that can affect movement and sharpness with macro, but I'll figure that out another day.

I shot these in manual mode, RAW, custom white balance, and ISO 200. The first one is at f/32, ss: 8".

The second one is also at f/32,but ss: 6".

This last once was also at f/32, but shutter speed: 2.5". I put this one in a sunnier spot on my couch and included it here because of the effect of the light coming through it. Actually, the REAL reason I included it was because I was impressed that you could see the DUST on it! So then I blew the dust off and took the above photos! :)

Sorry, folks. I'm crawling back in bed after I post this. I want everyone to know how much I appreciate their comments. I had no idea that people would like Buffalo so much! Thanks also for the suggestion to check out Pioneer Woman's blog. I've never heard of it and will be checking it out soon! I'll try to be back up and commenting on photos again by tomorrow, hopefully.

Angela--I commend you for posting when you are feeling so crummy. Looks like that macro lens is going to be a winner; nice shots of that shell. Go to bed, drink lots of Gatorade, and rest, rest, rest.

These are great! So nice and crisp. Sorry you aren't feeling well! I would have just stayed in bed and not posted! *hugs*

These look really sharp to me, and I love the colors and lighting. I didn't realize your lens had vibration reduction...I have heard that it should be shut off when using a tripod. I bet that's why the focus looked fuzzy to me the other day. I'd say you were a trooper for posting today, but I never know if it's trouper or trooper, so I'll just say yay you! Get well soon!

Isn't it hilarious how a macro can magnify everything, and I mean...everything? Great shell!

I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well! That is one cool shell you've photographed with (insert photographic mumbo jumbo here). To my untrained eye, they are just neat to look at!

Oh and YES you should check out the Pioneer Woman. I kept reading references to her blog and finally checked it out a week or so ago. LOVE it!!! You make me laugh out loud and so does she. Maybe she'll make you laugh out loud....

Hugs to you and hope you are back to feeling 100% quickly!!

I love that first one! neat texture on the shell. I love the lighting also, it makes those lighter tones have a contrasting pop with the brown. :)

Cheers,
