Day 79: Green Veggies

Don't you just love it when you're going through the grocery check-out line, and the maybe 20-something clerk picks up the vegetable, turns it over a few times, really stares at it, and then sheepishly asks, "Do you know what this is?"

A couple of green artichokes. Hopefully, someday, I'll get to show you some green grass. Although THAT I might not be able to recognize. Maybe someone can post a few photos of grass to help jog my memory, of what grass looks like, given how long this winter has been. . .

Hahaha.....its always the young teeny bopper (i was one once i think) who ask that question too. With our store, it always seems to be fruit.

I love this photo. Its so fun!

That's too funny, I can't believe someone wouldn't recognize an artichoke! Your shots are great, they make me hungry!

LOL at the salesclerk. How could they work ringing up groceries and not know what an artichoke is? Funny!

LOL! I don't think I would have known what that is either ;) Looks cool though!

Cool take on the green. For some reason I pick the cashiers that do that to me.

I have to admit I often have to read the signs in the produce section, but I do know an artichoke when I see one. :-)I really like the lighting and details in these shots. I think food macros are so fun, and I've had artichoke on my list of things to photograph. I have to go to the grocery store to find my green still too. It's snowing here again today.

Love artichokes. I get the clerks all the time who don't know what the veggies are. Turnips, eggplant, leeks... very tricky.

don't people buy artichokes anymore?? I mean c'mon!

LOL Yeah, they are always asking me! What do they learn in school, anyway? These look yummy! Good job finding some green!

Love all your "green" photos, with St Paddy's Day hoopla to this artichoke. I don't think I've ever eaten it, but I do know what it looks like. I felt embarrassed one time when I had to ask what bok choy looked like, though...

Methinks, being a fast food nation, artichokes aren't high on the list of items to get through the drive-thru! LOL

Who would have ever considered an artichoke pretty, but yours is. I had artichoke in my salad for lunch, but I cheated and got mine out of a can.
