Look Who's Happier Now!

Doug is home from the mission trip now with his Sickie Van. He brought the group home a day early because everyone but one person (the person who had the DUI and got them detained at the border) was sick.

And this is what he looked like as he opened our garage door:

Remember what I said he was going to see?

The brand new, bright red, Toyota Venza! Maybe "stuff" doesn't make you happy, but it has its little moments!

This car is strange. Our old car certainly didn't have the Venza's features. . . .like a working speedometer or odometer. But a 600-page owner's manual is quite daunting!

And believe me, we're really needing the manual! Take this, for example. See that little "start" button? This car doesn't have a key, as I've known keys in my lifetime! You keep this little transmitter thing in your pocket or purse and as long as you're "in the Zone" (keep "Meet the Frockers" circle of trust concept in mind), you can open the door by touching its handle, push this button, and the car starts. Spooky, huh?

I'm so happy Doug was please with the new vehicle. I'm just not certain about those key-less starters. I envision hitting the button (while in the zone - but not at the car) and my car starting and idling and idling and putt-putting out of gas/veg oil/or what ever the latest eco-friendly fuel there is.

Oh that button scares me! It's just asking to be hit by me or the boys when I am not ready!

Doug looks very happy!!

That second photo of Doug is priceless. You can just see the fatigue of the trip melt away. You also see the surprise and the pleasure. What a great photo!

P.S. I love your car. You need to give it a name.

Love the expressions you caught on Doug's face!!! Priceless! I'm not too sure about that whole button thing, but I do remember Rick driving a car with a push button transmission when we were in high school....

It really looks like a cool car. I can't imagine even thinking about buying a car without Bob. If I did, his expression would also be priceless but in a different way. I at least have to make him think he makes the dicisions. :)

Oh my gosh. I didn't know they made cars without a key (of course we both drive ancient cars). Love the look on your DHs face when he saw the car, and I hope he recuperates from all the "stuff" from the trip.

I;m not really a "car person" usually. But seeing posts like this make me think of my reliable 2000 town & country and think... maybe it's time lol. What a wonderful suprise for him, and great job capturing it!

He looks so happy! Great expressions. Our Maxima has something similar to the button start....kind of weird, but it works!

Oh my goodness! How special that you caught his expression on the camera. I am so glad he is home. He sure looks happy, but I bet he wasn't expecting a new car. WOW. How awesome. I just LOVE that it has a push button start. But a 600 page manual! That is nuts. My honda only has like 20 pages. Hahahahaha.

I am so happy for you and Doug! I love these photos.

What a great moment captured! Doug's face is priceless.

Not too sure about keyless starting, but maybe that means I'm getting "old."

Ooh, now that is a space-aged toy! What a great surprise for him to come home to!
