Signs of the Times and Oh! How I wish I could show you a photo of a gecko in a toilet!

Last week, I got into the elevator at work, and was greeted by this:

They're everywhere! The fight against H1N1 is on, but I'm beginning to feel a little stalked by hand sanitizers. The other day I shook someone's hand, and felt like a total social pariah!

Shhhhhh! Don't mention the rest of this blog to Dianna!

She tells me that her standards of cleanliness have dropped a bit, being in India. (If you ever saw her room, you'd be rather chilled by that statement!)I asked her how she does laundry in India.

"In a bucket."
"The same bucket you use to wash down the bugs every morning?"
"Yep. And there's a gecko that lives in my toilet."
"Did you try to flush it?"
"Yeah, but he just scrambles to the side, and lives on the ledge."

Wow!

This past 3 days, she's been on a camel safari! Then she'll be on the Darjeeling Express, and will eventually get to Calcutta, take a plane to Chennai, and start her 2nd project in Pondicherry on airborne mosquito illnesses. I think Pondicherry is less rural than Karigiri, but more rural than Chennai.

That is CRAZY about the gecko!! And I have seen it everywhere too! We have all actually HAD H1N1 and I am still okay overusing it, LOL!

We use a hand sanitizer that has lotion in it so we don't dry our skin out--too much Purell and your skin starts peeling. True! I love reading Di's adventures...such an entirely different world.

Hopefully the curry will keep the germs away for Dianna. ;)

Whoa, a gecko in the toilet? AND, she sounds positively blase about it! I agree about the hand sanitizers, I wish I had bought some Purell stock last spring, I bet it's gone sky high!

I have to hand it to Dianna. You couldn't pay me to go to India and do what she is doing. It is just too creepy to me.

I love hearing about her exciting travels! I hate hand sanitizer, it's everywhere at the hospital, but we have sinks everywhere too, so I just use those. Wish we'd get the H1N1 vaccine!!!!

I practically douse my son in sanitizer the minute he gets off the bus! Sounds like your daughter is having a great experience in India.

Wow! Lots of adventures! The sickness has been scary, but I think the hand washing and sanitizer helps reduce the germs!

It is def. a sign of the times. We are used to hand sanitaizer. My youngest Rocky is ocd and has always carried it and wipes with him. He drives us nuts.
Nice to hear about Diana's experiences.

Wow. A gecko that lives in the toilet. Wow. I have a lizzard phobia, so I can't even fathom having a gecko in my toilet.
