A Snowy Night in Grand Forks . . . and

Out and about last night, and it was the first significant snow fall in Grand Forks. It's very weird for this to be so late in the year, and it was nice and fluffy. Look how strange in photographs. . . like little octagons falling out of the sky. . . .

. . . and this is STILL the condition of my living room/dining room/kitchen because we've been so abandoned by our contractor. Over the past two and a half week, he's told us 4 times that he was going to show up. . . and maybe tomorrow he actually will!

Four days before Thanksgiving, and my "work arounds" only go so far in trying to prepare for Thanksgiving. If Craig (the contractor) still won't surface, I'm thinking about repacking/rearranging all the boxes to retrieve more of what I need for baking/cooking, moving the microwave to our coffee table, and running extension cords. We think he actually may show up tomorrow after my extensive, pathetic, begging at LumberMart, where we bought the cabinets, and who referred us to Craig. They actually did get him to return our phone call last week!

I am sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your contractor especially right before Thanksgiving. Hopefullly he will make it right for you before Thursday. (or we would love to have you all here)
It is strange how the snow photographs.

Hopefully you'll get your contractor issues straightened out soon! That stinks. And we've barely had any snow either, we normally get 2'+ in November and we've had a grand total of 1.5".

Oh gosh, that sounds terrible. I would definitely place a complaint with the lumbar store so they will think twice before recommending him again. I do hope he shows up and gets the job done before Thanksgiving.

Maybe with the late 'first' snow you might have less snow this winter. hahaha - who am I kidding! sorry! that was mean. tehehehe - couldn't help myself!

I don't understand why the home remodeling industry has such a large share of disreputable contractors, no I don't! I mean, there's money to be made and customers out there who need their services desperately! We've hired contractors and been happy at times, and miserable at others. Arggh!!! I can imagine how frustrated you must feel! My own bathroom woes are coming to a close soon. Lee is just putting on the finishing touches. Last week I went berserk over knobs. Did I want the 1-inch knobs or the 1¼-inch knobs? This is what remodeling does to me. Suddenly, this minutiae acquires tremendous importance! I had to order both sizes and try them out, then return the "wrong" size. I just bought a pretty towel for the bathroom, which is the first non-stressful decision I've had to make for the room. I can't wait to be done!

I am SO sorry about that contractor! I do hope that you haven't paid him completely...maybe the money will bring him back. And I'm with Nicki--I'd let the lumber store know about his non-performance so they don't recommend him. I will keep my fingers crossed that you have a functioning area in time for the holiday. Love seeing that first snow; it's snowing here, too! :-) Unlike you, ours will melt within a day or two, so snow is always exciting.

Oh my - and right before Thanksgiving... that will make cooking quite interesting! Hope he shows up today! And great shot of you and your hubby in the snow!

Look at you all smiley in the snow! That alone shows it's the first storm. hee, hee. I think you should take your picture again when you are tired of it and put them side by side.

I'm SO sorry to hear of your remodeling troubles. I hope that guy shows up and makes up for his lack of responsibility. We had an issued when we had some windows installed a few years ago. A job that should have taken just a few days took a few months because of the irresponsibility/immaturity of the guy who was installing them. It's SO frustrating and I really feel for you.
