The Fertile Trip

A few more photos from my trip to Bergeson's in Fertile, MN. Your reactions to "Fertile's" name cracks me up! If you liked this, you're sure to love little old Climax, MN, pop 264!

I printed this photo today, and was very unhappy with it. I understand how much better photos look on computer screens, and the translation necessary to a paper medium, CMYK ink profiles, but the photo turned out looking like mud.

Actually, I've been hating my printer, an HP Photosmart C5180 for about the past year. One night, I spent an hour on-line with an HP person (in India?), at the end of which he told me my printer was no good and he had a "special deal" on a new printer for me. The "special deal" turned out to be a refurbished printer, for the same price as a new one from Amazon. I declined.

Do you love your printer? Or hate it? What do you have and what are your best tips for printing?

Wonderful color!

Hey! There is a Climax, MI as well. ;)

I only print at the lab. It just seems like too much time and waste to get it looking just OK.

So pretty!!!

I'm from MN now, but used to live in Iowa. There is a Fertile, IA and a Manly, IA within miles of one another. One day there was a caption in the newpaper that read "Manly man marries Fertile woman"!! We still joke about that years later!

Beautiful shots.
As for printing, I never print photos at home. I always have them printed somewhere else.

Love the red of those geraniums! I'm sorry you're having printer issues :( I gave up on printing at home several years ago, just didn't have the patience to try and get the colors right at home, nor the money to invest in an amazing printer, Good luck!

I don't print at home, so no help there. Love that location!

I don't even try to print pictures from our printer(s) - HPs; I get them printed from Shutterfly. I rarely print pictures these days - mostly have a collection printed up in a photo book and the rest we enjoy as pop-ups on our screen saver in the family room (like a constant family photo album). BTW - we have an 'Big Ugly' in this region. Made the radio news one time when the DJ's cracked up over a report "Big Ugly lady arrested ..." Makes you wonder - what were they thinking when they came up with the name for that town. Somewhat obvious what was on their minds in the towns you've mentioned!

Beautiful shots! Can't wait to see shots of Climax too!! ;) As for the printer - I print at Costco - don't use my printer for photos...

That's a great photo!

I'm sorry your printer is giving you fits. I don't print at home, so no help from me either.

That's another funny name for a town...

I have the canon Pixma. It's okay, but definitely not as good as my lab prints! That second picture is pretty underexposed in his face. I'm not surprised it didn't turn out. If it were me, I would create a duplicate layer, lighten it up quite a bit and erase back the background. That's the problem with back lighting sometimes. I had a heck of a time at the beach last weekend! Spent way too much time in PS trying to fix my photos!

I love all of the color--I need to go out and get flower. I rarely print on my home printer--once in a while if I want a funky size for scrapbooking, but that's about it...

Beautiful flowers! I have no printer advice, since I don't own a decent photo printer (I only use mine to print out forms and stuff). I hope you can find a good one soon though!

Love the rows of flowers - very pretty. As for printing, I don't print at home. I have used mpix with good results, and plan to try out WHCC.

Hiya dear friend! I'm impressed at how much your photography has improved over the last year - you're quite talented. I'm just starting to venture into shooting in RAW and using Camera Raw in my post-processing. I'm still a little gun shy. Next is getting into shooting in manual mode. Gulp.

Will you be attending DSE in Provo this year? Apparently, Spraguefest 09 will directly precede that (since Jessica will already be there to teach). I think I will be there this year! Hope to see you then.
