Day 32-Necklace

Both of these necklaces were photographed in Macro Mode (but I want a macro lens and I'm aiming for mother's day!), with flash and tripod, ISO 200; 35mm lens; f/5.6; exp 1/125.

My sister-in-law made this necklace for me and I just love it. She mixes various things together, like fabric, glass, metal, and then heats it in a kiln. I'm so amazed, and totally delighted to get to be the recipient of these works of art! Thank you, Barb!

If your only two lenses were a 35mm 2.0 or an 18-135mm, which would you choose to photograph this?

Thank you everyone, who steered me toward the macro yesterday. I really do want to get one and my dear, dear husband said to get one. (but I'll wait till mother's day/birthday or I'd feel too guilty!)

What gorgeous necklace. What I thought immediately is that it reminded me of sea glass...such a pretty blue. Thank you for sharing it. She should open her own shop!

Beautiful necklace, lucky you to be the recipient! So special that it's hand made. I would experiment with both lens and adjust focal length and see which version I liked best.

PS - Go for the macro NOW!!! Why wait :)

What a beautiful, unique piece of jewelry. Lucky you! Can't help you with the lens, though.

Beautiful necklace and beautiful photos of it! You did a great job getting a macro shot without a macro lens, but I still think you should get one. If I had to choose of the two lenses you mentioned, I'd probably go with the zoom because I prefer the versatility of a zoom over a fixed length.

What a beautiful necklace. She's awfully talented. Not sure what to tell you about the lens. I'd probably go with the 35mm.

I spent the past hour or so looking at your January 2008 archive. You have so much talent and I become more and more impressed with each photo I see. How have you learned so much - did you take a photography class or has it all been by just playing around?
