Day 102 POTD: Mens World Curling Championship

Yesterday, I posted some photos of the "Transoceanic Curling Event", an event sponsored by the Grand Forks Curling Club. I sent photos to the club, and now they're putting my photos on their web site!

Today, I'm posting some photos from the Men's World Curling Championship. Mostly, I focused on the US team.

Yesterday's photos were more a good-natured scrimmage; these guys are much more serious. (And I couldn't help be notice, have much more toned up bodies!)

Some people in town volunteer to provide housing from the visitors from other countries. One man I know told me about the two 20-some year old students from Sweden that he's letting sleep on army cots in his house. He took them out to see the buffalo farm near town, and they were shocked to see "extinct" animals!

In this photo (above) you can also see two photographers. The guy lying between the "lanes" has not been knocked down; he's taking pictures.

Look how close to the ground the player delivering the rock has to be! ouch! That would definitely be hard on my knees!

Wow. Interesting shots! Too bad you weren't way down there like that other photographer. That would be really fun!

Great shots and it's no wonder they want to put them up on their website!

The subjects you find and the commentary you share are always so fascinating! :o)

Fun shots!! I couldn't help but notic the lens the guys has who was lying on the floor...man! Those guys who deliver the stone must have thigh and calf muscles of steel. Do you ever wonder if the "sweepers" use their skill around the house? LOL

Thanks for all the background on curling. You got some great shots of them. Why didn't they let you go lie down and take shots? BTW Sarah and I took your advice and went to the city for some retail therapy.

How cool that they're using your photos--woohoo for you! Who knew curlers would be so buff? If DH was there with me he'd say, "Honey, look at his lens! Do you have lens envy?"

Wow, I'll have to show my DH your post. I'm pretty sure he would think this is way cool! Great shots!
